With sustainability as a central operating principle, Biffa supports the entire waste management process from recycling, treatment and energy generation to collection, disposal and surplus redistribution. Biffa also maintains a significant renewable energy portfolio consisting of ownership stakes in two energy-from-waste facilities, ownership of two anaerobic digestion facilities and several landfill gas generation assets providing reliable electricity to the UK grid.

In January 2023, ECP completed the £2 billion take-private of Biffa, a leading, UK-based integrated waste management and circular economy business.

Biffa has been at the forefront of the UK’s waste management industry for over 100 years, with a commitment to enabling the development and prosperity of a circular economy, providing essential waste services across 95% of UK postal codes, representing ~100,000 business customers and ~2 million households in the UK.
